Vampire love blood banks, but the garlic bulb is their ruin. This statement is also understood by scientists, because the garlic bulb also makes disappear cancer cells.
The substance allicin does not only smell, it also kills cells, which scientists now wants to use to combat cancer. Cancer antibodies were equipped with this "stinking secret weapon". In a test carried out with laboratory mice the antibodies specifically stuck to the cancerous cells of the lymph nodes and killed them by means of their toxic freight. Other cells of the body did not suffer from this treatment. Only 72 hours later the agent of the garlic destroyed more than 90% of the cancer cells. With the help of these findings scientists hope to find softer methods for cancer therapy.
For centuries it has been assumed that garlic has healing properties – since the 1970s there is scientific evidence for this. The most important agent of garlic is allicin, an essential oil. Combined with the vitamins A, B, C, and E, enzymes, mineral nutrients and trace element, garlic builds up the immune defense and activates metabolism. Last but not least it is garlic that makes the Mediterranean cuisine so healthy; especially heart and circulation are strengthened by a regular consumption of garlic. It helps to lower blood sugar level and to regulate the cholesterol level.
The substance allicin contained in garlic has antibiotic properties and is said to help against coughs, colds, and influenza. Garlic juice can be mixed with lemon juice and a dash of olive oil added; this is known as a proven remedy. You can mix garlic juice with honey – this is a natural remedy for coughs.
Freshly taken garlic shows the best effects. It disinfects the intestines and usually cures problems of indigestion.
